K9YA Dogs

K9 Youth Alliance works with LA’s animal shelters and rescues to help abandoned dogs find loving, permanent homes.

According to LA’s Department of Animal Services (year ending June 2013), LA city shelters euthanized an average of 17 dogs a day – simply because they did not have a family of their own.  Los Angeles is a dog-loving culture, yet we are failing our homeless dogs in a monumental way. Though the problem is systemic and the answer is not simple, there are many ways you can help reduce the number of unwanted dogs needlessly euthanized every day.

All dogs in the K9YA program have been temperament tested by a certified professional and have received daily socialization and reward-based basic skills training.  When you adopt a dog who is in the K9YA program, you can feel good knowing you are not only changing the world for him or her, you are benefitting untold numbers of abandoned dogs and deserving kids by supporting the work we do.

Not ready to adopt? Consider fostering a dog who is in the K9YA program.  Volunteer foster families help ease the transition from shelter to permanent home and are an important part of many successful adoptions.  As a foster guardian, your love and care will help even more dogs find loving homes.

If you are considering adopting or fostering a dog, we would be happy to connect you  to the caring guardians of the dogs in the K9YA program – please email us at K9YouthAlliance@gmail.com or call 424.272.5992.
